Managing Swelling and Healing
Applying ice for no more than 20 minutes at a time, every two hours can help reduce swelling and redness. Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for the first 48 to 72 hours.
As swelling subsides, the area may feel slightly firm, uneven, or lumpy. This is a normal part of the healing process. If any unevenness remains after three weeks, gentle daily massage may help. If concerns persist, contact us for further guidance.
Vascular Occlusion Awareness
While rare, vascular occlusion (a blocked blood vessel) is a potential risk of dermal filler treatments. Choosing an experienced nurse practitioner with a deep understanding of anatomy reduces this risk, but it is important to recognize warning signs.
Signs to watch for:
Redness outside the treated area
A dusky gray or white appearance of the skin
Blisters or pustules on the surface
Bruising with a lacy pattern
If you notice any of these symptoms, contact us immediately. Early intervention is key to proper management.
All hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible with hyaluronidase if necessary.
Additional Considerations
Filler treatments are not recommended for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or allergic to lidocaine.
